One system instead of signage chaos
Ustav is a design system for the signs of Russian state institutions. Colour shows the field of activity, the shade shows the agency; one template with the coat of arms handles any name, from a ministry to an office door; a purpose-built typeface reads from five metres. The constructor produces files for manufacturing, and the pilot is the Republic of Tatarstan with its two state languages.

Colour tells visitors where they have arrived
12 families by field of activity and 38 agency shades: the police, traffic police and National Guard are different blues. The letter in the frame repeats the colour for people with colour vision deficiency. The coat of arms is placed only where the law allows, and the constructor checks the choice.

One template for any name: it is split into three ranks and condenses itself — regular, condensed, extra-condensed width. On a bilingual sign, Tatar and Russian are the same size.

Ustav, the purpose-built typeface
9 styles — three widths and three weights; stroke thickness follows DIN 1450 and ADA for reading from five metres. Tatar letters, arrows, ₽ and 13 wayfinding pictograms in the same geometry. The font is open, SIL OFL 1.1.

From a name to a cutting file
Sign type, agency, coat of arms (colour, black-and-white, engraving or your own), language and Braille per GOST R 56832-2020. The output is EPS, PDF and SVG in millimetres: text in outlines, bleed, and the cut line and Braille dots on separate spot colours. A table of hundreds of rows is built into a ZIP with a specification.
